DIRECTIVE No.12/1998/CT-TTg of March 21, 1998 on flood and storm prevention and combat as well as natural calamity reduction in 1998.

The Prime Minister directs the ministries, the ministerial-level agencies, the agencies attached to the Government and the People's Committees of the provinces and cities directly under the Central Government to well fulfil the following tasks: to review and draw experience from the 1997 flood and storm prevention and combat activities, to set forth concrete and practical orientation and tasks for flood and storm prevention and combat as well as reduction of natural calamities in 1998 in each management domain of each branch and locality, in order to minimize the damage caused by natural calamities. The ministries, branches and localities shall, within their respective functions and tasks, undertake the dike protection activities, carry out the procedures for registration and inspection of sea-going vessels, prepare all forces, means and supplies for flood and storm prevention and combat and overcoming the consequences thereof.- (Summary)
