The National Committee for preparation and organization of ASEM 5 is tasked to direct and coordinate with the ministries, branches and localities in relevant working fields in the course of preparation and organization of ASEM 5 in Hanoi in 2004.

The Committee shall be composed of Deputy Prime Minister Vu Khoan as its chairman, Foreign Minister Nguyen Dy Nien as its vice-chairman and 13 members being representatives of the leaderships of the concerned ministries and branches.

It consists of the following 4 Sub-Committees:

- The Contents Sub-Committee managed by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs;

- The Materials and Logistics Sub-Committee managed by the Government's Office;

- The Security Sub-Committee managed by the Ministry of Public Security;

- The Propagation Sub-Committee managed by the Ministry of Culture and Information.

The ASEM 5 Secretariat, located at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, shall be the standing body which assists the Committee.- (Summary)
