On the inspection of aquatic products exported to the US and CANADA
THE MINISTER OF FISHERIES
Pursuant to the Governments Decree No. 43/2003/ND-CP of May 2, 2003, defining the functions, tasks, powers and organizational structure of the Ministry of Fisheries;
Pursuant to the Prime Ministers Directive No. 37/2005/CT-TTg of October 28, 2005, on a number of measures to enhance management of chemicals and antibiotics used in food production and trading;
Pursuant to the US and Canadian markets requirements for control of aquatic product quality, safety and hygiene;
At the proposal of the director of the Science and Technology Department,
DECIDES:
Article 1.- The inspection and certification of food quality and safety for Vietnams aquatic animals and aquatic products exported to the US and Canada shall be conducted at the request of aquatic production and business units or under bilateral agreements between competent agencies of Vietnam and the importing country.
Article 2.- This Decision takes effect 15 days after its publication in "CONG BAO." To annul the regulations on enhancing inspection of aquatic products exported to the US and Canada in the Minister of Fisheries Decision No. 29/2005/QD-BTS of November 1, 2005.
Article 3.- The Department for Aquatic Product Quality, Safety and Hygiene and Aquatic Animal Health shall announce and guide aquatic production and business units to implement the provisions of agreements signed between the Department and competent authorities of importing countries.
Article 4.- The director of the Office, heads of departments, inspectors, and heads of units under the Ministry, directors of provincial/municipal Fisheries Services or provincial/municipal Agriculture and Rural Development Services in charge of fisheries as well as enterprises processing and exporting aquatic products shall implement this Decision.
