Name of the project: Afforestation in Lang Son and Ha Bac provinces;

Aid donor: the KfW Bank - the Federal Republic of Germany;

Aid receipient and project owner: the Ministry of Forestry (now the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development);

Project executor: the People�s Committees of Lang Son and Ha Bac provinces;

Implementation period: 1995-1999;

Fund: 10 million DM of non-refundable aid from the Federal Republic of Germany (under the already signed financial and particular agreements);

The project�s main investment contents shall be: forestrial promotion; the supply of materials for afforestation and fruit-tree growing; helping farmers efficiently use the land; directly providing fund for peasants via saving-accounts managed by the Vietnam Bank for Agriculture for spending on afforestation. Its concrete objectives are to put 12,600 hectares under forests; to support 84 mountain villages in Lang Son province and 61 villages in Ha Bac province in working out plans for land use in the first 3 years.- (Summary)
