DECISION No.118/1998/QD-TTg of July 8, 1998 on the promulgation of the Working Regulation of the National Committee for International Economic Cooperation.

The National Committee for International Economic Cooperation is authorized by the Prime Minister to perform the following tasks:

- To inspect and urge the ministries, branches and localities in implementing the Prime Minister's decisions on readjustment, supplement and improvement of the system of laws and policies on domestic economy and trade in order to make them compatible with the regulations of the international and regional economic and trade organizations which Vietnam has joined or is going to join;

- To direct the activities of Government delegations for international economic and trade negotiations; and submit the negotiation results to the Prime Minister for consideration and approval;

- To coordinate and urge the ministries, branches and localities in carrying out activities related to Vietnam's obligations and interests in order to fully materialize the negotiation results already approved by the Prime Minister according to the set tempo;

- To monitor the ministries, branches and localities in fulfilling Vietnam's commitments; and propose the Prime Minister to request the ministries, branches and localities to readjust, amend and annul regulations and activities which are contrary to Vietnam's commitments;

- To assume the prime responsibility and coordinate with the concerned agencies in applying necessary measures to protect Vietnam's legitimate interests in the international and regional economic and trade organizations which Vietnam has joined;

- To request the ministries, branches and localities to provide data and documents, and report matters related to Vietnam's joining and activities in the international and regional economic and trade organizations.

The responsibilities of the Chairman, the Vice Chairman, the Secretary General and members of the Committee; the working regime of the Committee shall be specified in the Working Regulation of the Committee.- (Summary)
