DECISION No.30/1998/QD-TTg of February 9, 1998 on the establishment of the Banking Institute.

To establish the Banking Institute under the State Bank of Vietnam on the basis of reorganizing the Center for Banking Training and Scientific Research. The Banking Institute is a State-run institution for training and scientific research in the banking field.

The Banking Institute is tasked to train professional personnel, at the university and post-graduate levels in the monetary-credit and banking fields; to foster banking skills and technology; to organize the banking scientific and technological research; to promote cooperation on the banking training and scientific research with organizations inside and outside the country in accordance with the common regulations of the State.
