Directive No.726-TTg of September 4, 1997 on enhancing the archival work in the coming period.

The Government Commission on Organization and Personnel shall guide the ministries, general departments, provinces and cities in uniformly organizing the archives in the State agencies of all levels; training, fostering and employing archivists according to the public servant norms issued by the State.

The Ministry of Planning and Investment shall guide the branches, localities in drawing up plans and projects for renovating and upgrading the existing archives.

The State Archives Department shall inspect the preservation of documents in the archives throughout the country in order to direct the revision, restoration, preservation and protection of documents; and coordinate with the Archives Departments of the Office of the Party Central Committee, the Office of the Government and the Steering Board of the National Program for Information Technology in guiding the application of information technology to archival work.- (Summary)
