DECISION No.1078/1997/QD-TTg of December 12, 1997 ratifying the Regulation on organization and operation of the National Council for Scientific and Technological Policies.
The National Council for Scientific and Technological Policies is an advisory body of the Prime Minister, which shall advise the latter on important issues relating to the development of science and technology.
The National Council for Scientific and Technological Policies is also tasked to advise the Prime Minister before the latter makes decision on the following:
- Orientations and strategy for the development of science and technology as well as scientific and technological domains that shall be given priority in each period
- Major policies for the promotion of scientific and technological development
- Drafts of legal documents of the State on science and technology
- Main targets of the five-year and annual plans for scientific and technological development
- State-level scientific and technological programs
- Other important issues on science and technology, the comments on which are required by the Prime Minister or are deemed necessary to be proposed by the Council to the Prime Minister.
The Council's tenure lasts 5 years. The Council is composed of a Chairman, a Vice Chairman and members.- (Summary)
