DECISION No. 92/2001/QD-TTg of June 11, 2001 on consolidating the National Committee for the Advancement of Vietnamese Women
The National Committee for the Advancement of Vietnamese Women shall assist the Prime Minister in performing the following tasks:
- To advise the Prime Minister on elaborating and inspecting the implementation of national strategies and plans of action for the advancement of Vietnamese women; to coordinate with the concerned agencies in proposing to the Prime Minister the elaboration of the State�s laws and policies relating to gender equality and women�s advancement;
- To coordinate with the concerned agencies in supervising, urging and inspecting the enforcement of the State�s laws and policies toward women in the ministries, branches, provinces and centrally-run cities;
- To coordinate with the concerned agencies in propagating, disseminating and agitating the enforcement of the State�s laws and policies toward women, as well as the United Nations� Convention on elimination of discriminative attitude towards women (CEDAW ); and assume the prime responsibility for elaborating the national report on the implementation of such Convention in Vietnam;
- To act as designated agency for international cooperation in the field of gender equality and women�s advancement.
The National Committee for the Advancement of Vietnamese Women shall comprise the following members:
Chairwoman of the Vietnamese Women Association as its chairwoman;
A Vice-Minister of Education and Training and a Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs as its vice chairmen;
Other members being representatives of the concerned ministries and branches.-(Summary)
