DECISION No.79/1998/QD-TTg of April 9, 1998 on the establishment of the State Steering Committee for Wages and Salaries.

The Committee is composed of Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung as its Chairman, two Deputy Chairmen and eight members who are representatives of the Government Commission for Organization and Personnel, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Education and Training, the Government Office and the Vietnam Confederation of Labor.

The State Steering Committees for Wages and Salaries is tasked to: direct the formulation of the State wage and salary policies; study the socio-economic policies related to the wage and salary policies proposed by ministries and branches before submitting them to the Prime Minister for promulgation; organize the implementation of the State wage and salary policies and direct the periodical review and evaluation of the implementation of the State wage and salary policies; and propose measures to promptly settle problems arising in the course of implementation of the State wage and salary policies.- (Summary)
