This Decision prescribes the order, procedures for, and process of, coordination between State management agencies and organizations and individuals involved in the announcement, reception, transmission and processing of maritime security information.

It applies to all organizations and individuals involved in the management, use and exploitation of Vietnamese vessels operating on international routes and foreign vessels operating in Vietnam's internal waters and territorial sea (including passenger vessels, cargo vessels with a total capacity of 500 GT or more and off-shore mobile drilling-rigs); seaports receiving Vietnamese and foreign vessels stated above; companies exploiting Vietnamese vessels stated above; enterprises managing and exploiting above-said seaports; and State management agencies prescribed in this Decision.

Maritime security information means information on dangers which possibly cause or have caused security incidents to vessels or seaports; on maritime security extents and change of such extents applicable to vessels and seaports; and information on suitable security measures to be applied to ensure security for vessels and seaports.

This Decision takes effect 15 days after its publication in the Official Gazette.- (Summary)
